The River Brosna rises in Lough Owel and is a tributary of the river Shannon.

Fun fact about River Brosna:

• The Brosna begins as a small river, flowing from Lough Owel, flows through Mullingar into Lough Ennell.
• From Lough Ennell, the river Brosna flows into Killbeggan, were still to this day still powers the mill at Killbeggan Distillery.
