Lough Derravaragh Caravan and Camping Park is one of the main public areas and is located at Donore in the quiet village of Multyfarnham. On the caravan and camping site there is boat hire for fishing & leisure, café, mini golf and a small children’s playground area which opens from Spring to Autumn each year.

Lough Derravaragh is best known for its connection with the Irish legend of the Children of Lir

The lake includes a small area of raised bog. The lake is bound in the northwest by the River Inny.

The Inny, which is a major tributary of the River Shannon, flows into and from Lough Derravaragh on its northwest shore.
