The club’s last senior title was won in 2018, we were beaten in the county final of 2014 and in the semi-final in 2015. • In 2018, Mullingar Shamrocks won the Senior Championship and this was 85th county title won by the club since its foundation in 1953. Each of these age groups (excluding under-20) caters for a panel of roughly 25 players; therefore the club has an active playing population of approximately 120 players in the age group 11-18. • In addition, from April to September annually, regular Saturday morning coaching sessions take place for under-6, under-8, under-10 year and under-12s. These age groups do not have competitive football but a regular programme of games is organised by the club for the club with an emphasis on fun and participation modelled on the GAA’s Go-Games Concept. Approximately 70-80 young boys and girls are involved in this activity. This is achieved mainly through participation in the GAA’s annual Scór and Scór na nÓg competitions which are designed to promote and encourage Irish culture. • The Mullingar Shamrocks Club is one of Ireland’s leading clubs in adult Scór activities and in 2015 won the All-Ireland title in the Novelty Act section and were Leinster champions in the Figure Dancing Competition. • Mullingar Shamrocks community dimension is also displayed in the club’s annual Stars in Your Eyes promotion. This is an entertainment show that was staged on three nights recently in the Mullingar Arts Centre. The core of this show is provided by members of the club but an opportunity is also provided to talented non-club members from Mullingar to display their talents on stage. Niall Horan of One Direction fame and Mark Irwin currently starring in the Commitments in London’s West End made some of their earliest stage performances in this show and we have the DVDs to confirm same! • The club also has a weekly bingo section which attracts an average attendance of over 100 mainly from the local housing estates and these are mainly older members of the community.
