Mullingars literary associations abound. By way of example James Joyce has featured the town in his novels and spent at least one summer in Mullingar. It is where JP Donleavys (the Gingerman) choose to live out his days and in recent times Patricia Gibneys detective novels has put “Ragmullin” on the map with over 1,000,000 book sales. A debut novel in the last year from Anne Griffin has stormed the charts and our very own Bressie has been in the top selling list more than once.
This years An Post Book Awards – sees three books by Mullingar authors on the shortlist –
