Belvedere House and Gardens located on the outskirts Mullingar on the shore of Lough Ennell. County Westmeath. Originally built in 1740 Belvedere House has seen many transformations.
The house and gardens now consist of a Visitors Centre and Coffee Shop and Gift Centre. There is a beautiful woodland walk with 4 Children’s Play areas and plenty of trails for dogs to enjoy. Belvederes Parklands offer stunning views, a Victorian Walled Garden, many splendid woodland & lakeshore walks in a safe and serene lakeside setting.
Belvedere Estate today is a very important example of cultural built heritage that has been transformed into a tourism asset of national importance for the region. Tours are available daily of the inside of the house.
The Jealous Wall is the largest and one of the most celebrated and most spectacular follies. The word Folly is commonly used to describe an ornamental building serving no useful purpose.
