Mullingar Town Park is a public park located in the centre Mullingar, Co. Westmeath, Ireland. The park includes a wide variety of playgrounds, a swimming pool and a large pond near the centre. On 22 July 2016, the park became one of 22 public spaces in Ireland to be awarded a Green Flag n award that recognises park’s that are managed in an environmentally sustainable way.
The town park opened in the 1960s and has been enhanced over the years. The park now includes a variety of children’s playgrounds, a swimming pool, a large pond and a skate park and will have public Wi-Fi in the not too distant future.
The River Brosna flows through the western side of the Park. The Anglo-Normans chose to settle here because of the existence of the Brosna. At that time, it was easier to travel across Ireland by water than by land. Originally the river flowed through what is now the centre of the park where the pond is.
